A loan helped to cover the expenses of harvesting and preparing her kava plantation.

Liliani's story

Liliani and her husband run a business of growing and selling kava (Tongan beer). They plant a whole field, take care of it, then harvest and sell it.

Kava is part of our traditions and it is presented in every occasion. It is a lot of work that needs to be done in order to perfect the kava. It is grown for three to five years, harvested, dried out, then smashed into powder for selling.

She is applying for this loan because they need financial support to cover expenses. They have four children who are all in high school.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
