Akali is a hard-working 35-year-old from the Kishanganj in Bihar. She lives with her husband and four children. Her husband cultivates paddy on his farmland and gets a meager income from selling them in the local markets. However, the income is insufficient to provide financial security and prosperity for them in the future. Akali and her husband have, therefore, decided to start large-scale paddy cultivation on their land. Akali, along with the other members of the group, seek a group loan of INR 278,000. This fund will be used to buy seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other farm inputs for paddy crops. This loan will greatly help in increasing their income and securing a brighter future for their families.
