A loan helped a member to buy hybrid maize seeds and fertilizer for farming.

Ushirika 2 Group's story

Christine is often described by her community as a very reliable person. This season will not be her first one working alongside One Acre Fund, as she became a member in 2018. Like many of her fellow farmers, she decided she wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to receive quality training and acquire new farming methods.

Christine decided to be the one to represent her group because she wanted to be more active in her community. Although she is the only person seen here (others in the group were unavailable during profile collections), she represents a group of ten farmers in Kitale Duka Zone District, Kenya. With this loan the group will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 8.5 acres of land.

Christine hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to send her children to school.

In this group: Christine, Isaya , Haruni , Sharon , Joseph , Bathsheba , Williams, Mary , Eunice , Suzanne
