A loan helped a member to buy hybrid maize seeds and fertilizer for her farm.

Sambut Group's story

Phoebe is often described by her community as a very friendly person. This season will not be her first one working alongside One Acre Fund, as she became a member in 2018. Like many of her fellow farmers, she decided she wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds possible.

Phoebe decided to be the one to represent her group because she wanted to be more active in her community. Although she is the only person seen here (others in the group were unavailable during profile collections), she represents a group of five farmers in Kitale Duka Zone District, Kenya. With this loan the group will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 5.125 acres of land.

Phoebe hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to repair her home.

In this group: Phoebe, Benjamin, Iren , Mary , Lenah

This loan is special because:

It provides smallholder farmers with seeds and supplies at the planting season.
