A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Uchukue Group A's story

This season is not the first one that Samuel is working alongside One Acre Fund. He has been a member for a few years now, having joined the program in 2022.

Although he is the only person featured in the above picture (others in the group were unavailable during profile collections), he is actually representing his group of 10 farmers in Koromaiti Duka Zone District, Kenya.

Samuel is often described by his community as a very hardworking individual and decided to be the one to represent his group, because he wanted to gain leadership skills.

Like many of his fellow farmers, Samuel decided he wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. He hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to invest in a business.

This loan will not only help Samuel, but the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 6.04 acres of land.

In this group: Samuel, Alex , Haron , Beatrice , Gladys , Isaac , Eunice , Jane , Modesty , Laureen

This loan is special because:

It provides smallholder farmers with seeds and supplies at the planting season.
