A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business.

Sioana's story

This mother's name is Sioana. She is blessed with nine children, and her husband travels on seasonal jobs. The five youngest are still attending school, and her weaving is the main income for their educational expenses. They live in a three-bedroom house, with the boys having to make their own hut outside, while the girls share the rooms with their parents.

Sioana joins three other women in the neighborhood for weaving. Weaving in a group benefits her business. She focuses on weaving ta'ovala only, for it requires a small amount of time, but can earn a larger amount of money. She only weaves mats and fihu if any of her customers order it.

She has applied for this loan to buy pandanus for her weaving.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
