A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business.

Malia's story

Malia is married to a farmer and they have three children.

She is a weaver, and she weaves with a group of women. They weave different items such as taovala, mats and fihu, and sell out to some of their customers overseas and to local customers.

She is planning with her husband to turn their plantation business into a commercial business to earn extra money for the family, but it is a long term plan for them. She believe that her weaving business can help with this transition.

This loan is to buy pandanus for her weaving.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
