A loan helped to purchase raw food and vegetables to sell.

Babra's story

Babra is 35 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married with four children who are all currently in school. For the past five years, Babra has been working hard to manage her grocery store where she sells raw food. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small group members, like Babra, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

Babra is requesting a 4,600,000 UGX loan from BRAC Uganda to purchase more raw food and vegetables to sell. She will use her loan to generate greater profits and increase her production to attract more revenue. Babra will use her profit to provide basic needs for her family like food and clothes. She hopes that in the future she will be able to acquire land, build a good house and grow her business.
