A loan helped to buy items to make the local brew to sell.

Teddy's story

Teddy is 38 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married with four children who are all currently in school. For the past three years, Teddy has been working hard to manage her bar where she sells liquor. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small group members, like Teddy, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

Teddy is requesting a 3,000,000 UGX loan from BRAC Uganda to buy more items to make the local brew to sell. She will use her loan to generate greater profits and take good care of her children and provide enough food for her family. Teddy hopes that in the future she will be able to to buy another plot of land.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
