A loan helped a member to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seed and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Tumaini Group's story

Kennedy has been a member of One Acre Fund since joining the program in 2012. Although he is the only person featured in the above picture (others in the group were unavailable during profile collections), he is representing his group of 11 farmers in Kimilili Duka Zone District, Kenya.

Kennedy is often described by his community as a very resourceful person. He decided to represent his group because he wanted to help more farmers. Like many of his fellow farmers, Kennedy wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community to access quality training and acquire new farming methods. He hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to send his children to school.

This loan will not only help Kennedy but the whole group, which will receive maize seed and fertilizer to plant a total of 8.08 acres of land.

Kennedy is holding a solar light purchased previously using a Kiva loan
