A loan helped a member to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seed and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Ssinoko Group's story

Rose has been a member of One Acre Fund since joining the program in 2012. Although she is the only person featured in the above picture (others in the group were unavailable during profile collections), she is representing her group of 10 farmers in Kimilili Duka Zone District, Kenya.

Rose is often described by her community as a very hardworking Individual. She decided to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers. Like many of her fellow farmers, Rose wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seed. She hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to buy a cow.

This loan will not only help Rose but the whole group, who will receive maize seed and fertilizer to plant a total of 5.79 acres of land.

In this group: Rose, Josephine , Samuel , Eunice , Penina , Juliana , Emily , Silvia , John , Antony

This loan is special because:

It provides smallholder farmers with seeds and supplies at the planting season.
