A loan helped a member to buy hybrid seeds and fertilizer to grow maize.

Boresha Group's story

Often described by her community as a very reliable person, Rodah has worked alongside One Acre Fund since 2012. Although she is the only person featured in the above photo (she is holding a solar light bought previously using a Kiva loan), she is representing a group of eleven farmers in Kimilili Duka Zone District, Kenya. (Others in the group were unavailable during profile collections.) She decided to be the one to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers.

Like many of her fellow farmers, Rodah decided she wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. She hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to rent more land to cultivate.

This loan will not only help Rodah but the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 6.85 acres of land.

This loan is special because:

It provides smallholder farmers with seeds and supplies at the planting season.
