A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve harvest of maize.

Mt.moria Group's story

This season is not the first one that Julius is working alongside One Acre Fund. He has been a member for a few years now, having joined the program in 2012 and, although he is the only person featured in the above picture, (others in the group were unavailable during profile collection), he is actually representing his group of 11 farmers in Nalondo Duka Zone District, Kenya.

Julius is often described by his community as a very trustworthy person and decided to be the one to represent his group because he wanted to help more farmers. Like many of his fellow farmers, Julius decided he wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds and hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to send his children to school.

This loan will not only help Julius but the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 5.35 acres of land.

In this group: Julius, Boaz , Alice , Godwin , Samuel , Augustine , Justine , Joshua , Selina , Phillip , Timothy

This loan is special because:

It provides smallholder farmers with seeds and supplies at the planting season.
