A loan helped to buy deli meats and staple grocery items.

Lidia Florinda's story

Lidia is a thirty-three year old businesswoman. She is the mother of two children, aged 18 months and 9 years. Her older son is in the third grade. She is married to a heavy cargo pilot. Lidia is a pre-school teacher and she practiced her profession for a long time. For her family, she made the decision to quit her job and start her own business.

Nine years ago, she opened a convenience store where she also sells pet food and deli meats. Lidia has her own locale, and she is helped by an employee to serve the customers. She has been a member of the Puente de Amistad communal bank for a long time. With the intention of increasing her working capital and for it to be more formalized, she is asking for her first individual Kiva loan. With the capital, Lidia will buy more products her customers ask her for, like deli meats, and staple grocery items. .

Lidia's goal is to have a small supermarket where her customers can have a wider variety and choose their products comfortably, plus hire more people from her community.

Lidia lives in the department/state of Chimaltenango and she speaks the Mayan language of Kaqchikel and Spanish. With the program named Bridge to Success, Lidia will be able to receive more personalized trainings in topics like good customer service. These will surely be very useful both in her business and in her life.

Thank you!
