A loan helped a member to purchase charcoal for resale.

Houénoussou Group's story

The Houénoussou group consists of thirteen women who all live in the same village and who met each other through one of the group. This is the second loan they are taking from ALIDE, following the successful repayment of their first loan. The group has agreed to support each other through loan repayments.

Micheline was born in 1959, and now lives in Allada, a rural town inland from Benin. She and her husband Féverin have six children, three of whom still live at home. For the past nine years Micheline has sold charcoal that she sources from a village nearby in the market at Allada. With this loan she hopes to purchase ten bags of charcoal as additional stock. Her aim is to grow her sales while providing for her three children still at home. Her strengths are her dynamism and adaptability.
