A loan helped to purchase more rice, pepper, oil, chicken, and ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell.

Esther's story

Esther is a 46-year-old entrepreneur, from Liberia. She is a widow with five children who are schooling and live at home. She attended school up to seventh grade. She runs a business where she prepares cooked food to sell. Several years ago, she started operating her sales. She learned how to sell from her mother and started the business with her own savings. She works Monday through Saturday and uses a car to transport supplies to her business site. She likes her business because sales are profitable and she is proud of her business because it makes her an independent woman.

With this loan she will purchase more rice, pepper, oil, chicken, and ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell to her good clients. She wants to build a house and deals in an international business in the future. Esther wishes to say thanks.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
