A loan helped a member to purchase more shoes.

Rey Divino Group's story

Fashion is perfect to have a business which includes accessories, clothing, beauty advice, and shoes. This is Emilia's business. She is thirty-three years old, married, and the parent of two children (6 months and 4 years old).

For three years, Emilia has sold shoes for men and women as a street vendor with her spouse. For her good customer service, she has increased her customers and, in the end, the demand for the product. She asks for her second Kiva loan to purchase more shoes of new designs and sizes. Emilia's goal is to continue expanding her business and to establish a retail space to offer more designs.

Rey Divino is the name of a Friendship Bridge communal bank formed by eight Spanish-speaking women. They are from the department/state of Suchitepéquez and operate small businesses selling food, shoes, and corn tortillas. Some of the other women operate small convenience stores. Thanks to Friendship Bridge's Microcrédito Plus program, the women empower themselves through the monthly trainings offered to them. Topics such as savings and good loan management are essential for the women to bring their businesses to success.

Thank you, Kiva lenders, for your kindness in financing these loans!
