A loan helped to buy loads of limes.

Cristina's story

Small businesses have a huge impact on society and the economy, generating employment and improving the quality of life of women like Cristina, who is 36 years old. She is married and the mother of five children (ages 7 to 17 years). The three youngest children attend primary school, and the older ones finished fourth and sixth grades. Cristina only attended school for two years.

For three years, the couple has worked buying quantities of limes and selling them by the thousand. She makes deliveries to consumers within her department/state of Suchitepéquez. Due to the quantity of limes they have to gather and deliver, they have six employees. Cristina wishes to increase her business and meet new demand from different places. Therefore she requests her first Kiva loan to buy two big lots of limes to fill new orders.

The program “Puente al Éxito” [bridge to success] of Puente de Amistad [Friendship Bridge] will benefit Cristina greatly. As an optimistic entrepreneur, she will be able to access new markets, be more successful, and meet challenges thanks to technical training and personalized advice provided as part of the program. She is pleased with the results of her work and efforts to achieve her objectives.

Thank you, Kiva lenders, for helping Cristina to reach her goals!
