A loan helped to purchase more charcoal and other items to sell.

Anita's story

Meet 41-year-old Anita from Liberia. She is married and has 4 children:. All of her children are living at home while attending school.

Anita attended school up to 9th grade. She runs a retail business selling charcoal and other items. She learned how to sell from her mother and started the business with some financial help from her husband. She faces no problems with her business and uses a car to transport supplies to her business site. Anita sells Monday through Saturday and spends 6 hours at her business site.

She requested this loan from BRAC, a Kiva lending partner, to purchase more charcoal and other items to sell to generate greater profits. She likes her business because it helps to sustain her family.

In the future, she wants to improve her business and own a big shop. She says thanks and appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
