A loan helped to purchase chickens, ducks, and feed, and to build a corral and a slaughterhouse.

Jennyfer Jamilec's story

Jennyfer is 28 years old, lives in her mother's house in the canton of Ventanas in the coastal region of Ecuador, and has two children she is raising as a single mother. She is a humble and hardworking woman, very protective of her family. The environment around her permits her to subsist through agricultural work.

One of her activities is raising poultry such as ducks and chickens. Her animals are raised with natural feed so that their meat is healthy. Jennyfer plans to build a more adequate corral and a slaughterhouse for raising and butchering these birds.

Her resources are limited, so she asks for a loan from Kiva and Banco VisionFund Ecuador to be able to purchase guadua cane, mesh, chickens, ducks, and scraps of various types of vegetables. With this investment, she will be able to raise a larger number of poultry to sell and, in this way, will be able to generate more earnings from her business.

As a mother, she wants the best for her children, so she wants to be able to provide them an education and give them land so that they have support that they can take as a foundation for progress.
