A loan helped to buy more maize and coffee to sell.

Teddy's story

Teddy is 49 years old and lives in the town of Mityana, in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has seven children, with four of them currently in school.

For the past five years, Teddy has been working hard to manage her food sales business, selling coffee and maize. To help expand her business, Teddy has requested a loan of 4,000,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more maize and coffee to sell, and will help Teddy to generate greater profits. Her sales will increase and attract more revenue, helping her to be able to provide food for his family.

Teddy hopes that in the future she will be able to stock more produce items, which will increase her sales.

Teddy is a member of BRAC's microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Teddy, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
