A loan helped to buy more fresh fish for sale.


Rose's story

Rose is 45 years old and lives in the town of Mityana, in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has six children, with two of them currently in school.

For the past ten years, Rose has been working hard to manage her fish vending business, selling fried fish. To help expand her business, Rose has requested a loan of 4,700,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more fresh fish for sale, and will help Rose to generate greater profits. Her production will increase and attract more revenue, helping he rto be able to provide basic needs for her family.

Rose hopes that in the future she will be able to purchase
fish for resale.

Rose is a member of BRAC's microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Rose, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
