A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve her maize harvest.

Spiderweb B Group's story

This season is not the first one that Joice is working alongside One Acre Fund. She has been a member since 2012 and -- although she is the only person featured in the above picture (others in the group were unavailable during profile collections) -- she is representing her group of 13 farmers in Mwamba Duka Zone District, Kenya.

Joice is often described by her community as a very hardworking individual, and she decided to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers.

Like many of her fellow farmers Joice decided to be part of the One Acre Fund community to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. She hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to send her children to school.

This loan will not only help Joice but the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 7.58 acres of land.

In this group: Joice, Norah , Bramuel , Jane , Edwin , Florence, Violet, Joice , Monica , Rosemary , Stephen , Berita , Beatrice

This loan is special because:

It provides smallholder farmers with seeds and supplies at the planting season.
