Hector and Evelyn: we are two individuals that grew up in Sonora, Mexico (border state with Arizona) surrounded by the rich flavors and traditions of Sonoran cuisine. From street tacos to carne asada, we developed a deep appreciation for the authentic dishes that were a staple of our childhood.
My dream was to be able to share my passion for cooking and share Sonoran's unique flavor with others. Years later, I met my now sister-in-law, who shared my love for Mexican food and had a similar upbringing in Sonora. Together, we decided to combine our culinary skills and open a Mexican restaurant in the United States. With a shared vision of bringing the taste of Sonora to a new community, we worked tirelessly to create a menu that reflected our heritage and showcased the best of Mexican cuisine.
Our business' mission is to bring a part of Sonoran gastronomy to our community. Growing with a cooking passion and experiencing multiple cultures, we decided to venture into the culinary field. Having the opportunity to open a restaurant at a military base allowed us to expand our culinary roots in such a diverse community. Carne Asada El Yaqui is a Mexican restaurant that celebrates history and culture through its authentic Sonoran cuisine, creating a culinary experience deeply rooted in tradition. Our business operates within Fort Huachuca in Arizona, where we are honored to serve our troops and the local community.
The decision to start this business was made in 2022 with a heartfelt desire to showcase and share the rich heritage of Sonora with the nation, fostering a deep connection to our roots through our culinary offerings. When we learned about the military presence at Fort Huachuca, we saw an opportunity to not only share our culture with a new audience, but also to give back to those who serve our country. We started our small business with a food truck.
Our menu was not as extensive as our vision, but it did highlight the unique flavors of our roots. With the support of our families and the local community, we opened our restaurant on the base, offering a taste of home to the soldiers and their families. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
