A loan helped to buy new naranjilla plants, fertilizers, mulch, and fungicides. He will also pay workers to prepare the soil and continue with the planting.

Juan Carlos's story

Juan is 30 years old. He lives with his family in the parish of Lita, in the province of Imbabura. It is an area in which the the principal financial hubs are commerce and agriculture.

Juan is a young man who is hardworking and dedicated to his family. He currently works in agriculture. He has a crop of naranjilla on a one-acre plot. The land is family-owned. The sale of naranjilla allows him to have resources to help his family with the monthly expenses.

Juan seeks a loan to buy new naranjilla plants, fertilizers, mulch, and fungicides. He will also pay workers to prepare the soil and continue with the planting. This will provide better conditions for the growth and development of his products. It will also ensure an excellent production that is high quality, in order to sell it at an excellent price in the market and have a good profit margin.

Juan is grateful to Kiva for the assistance it is providing him. He is grateful that people exist who help others who have limited financial resources.

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Laurie Hiller.
