A loan helped a member to buy peanut seeds and fertiliser.

05-Fatou Group's story

This group of women, who live in the same area and are closely united by ties of kinship and solidarity, was founded in July 2020. The women have primarily been earning a living as farmers for four years.

Fatou, who has her hand raised in the image, is 40 years old, married and a mother of four children, two of whom are girls. She practises agriculture, and with this loan she plans to buy four sacks of peanut seeds and three sacks of fertiliser with which to grow peanuts. After the harvest, she will sell her produce in the local market at a good price, hoping to increase her revenue.

She plans to use her profits to increase her savings and help her husband to meet the family's needs, such as food, care and their children's schooling.

In this group: Fatou, Kodou, Marame Khady, Fatoumata Bineta, Yacine, Awa, Adama
