A loan helped to buy more rice, drinks, oil and other items to sell.

Yah's story

This is 46 years old Yah, from Liberia. She is living together with her partner along with 4 children; they are in school. Yah is a very hardworking business woman who sells rice, drinks, oil and other items.

She has been managing her business for eight years. She started the business with her own savings and learned how to sell from her mother. She works 6 days a week and uses a car to transport supplies to her business site.

Yah applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva Lending Partner. With this loan she will buy more rice, drinks, oil and other items to sell to her good clients.

She likes her business because it provides for her family. She would like to deal in an international business in the future. Yah wishes to say thanks.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
