A loan helped to purchase more fashionable clothes to resell.

Rossette's story

Rossette is 42 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has five children, with three of them currently in school. For the past 14 years, Rossette has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of adult clothes, like shirts and dresses.

To help expand her business, Rossette has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable clothes to resell and will help Rossette to generate greater profits and manage to buy basic needs for her family.

Rossette hopes that in the future she will be able to build rentals for business. Rossette is a member of BRAC's microfinance program. The program primarily serves small group members, like Rossette, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
