A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Riziki Group's story

This season is not the first one that Alfayo is working alongside One Acre Fund. He has been a member since 2023, and although he is the only person featured in the above picture (others in the group were unavailable during profile collections), he is representing his group of 10 farmers in Malava Duka Zone District, Kenya.

Alfayo is often described by his community as a very hardworking individual. He decided to be the one to represent his group because he wanted to gain leadership skills. Like many of his fellow farmers, Alfayo decided he wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods. He hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to buy more land to cultivate.

This loan will not only help Alfayo but the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 7.58 acres of land.

Alfayo is holding a solar light purchased previously using a Kiva loan.

In this group: Alfayo, John , Rose , Jones , Berice , Patricia , Douglas, Rosebellah , Jackline , Peter

This loan is special because:
