A loan helped to purchase more palm oil to increase her business.


Mahawa's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 38-year-old Mahawa from Masingbi branch. She is a married businesswoman with two children, ages 7 and 12. Both are currently attending school. She started this business to take care of her family.

Mahawa runs a retail business selling palm oil to her customers around the community. She has been in this business for the past 13 years. Mahawa says that her challenge is the increase in prices of transportation.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more palm oil to increase her business. Mahawa says that the extra income from this loan will help to take care of her family. In the future, she would like to expand to a large scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
