A loan helped a member to buy a variety of ingredients and pans in order to continue cooking her delicious appetizers.

Las Aguilas Group's story

Four times a week the delicious aroma of meats and other foods permeates the neighborhood where Delia lives. She is 26 years old, and lives with her husband and eleven-year-old daughter.

Five years ago Delia opened a stand in front of her house where she offers lunches and snacks. She also sells through WhatsApp.

Her husband works as a mason, and their income pays for the continuing education of their daughter who is in elementary school. Delia's first Kiva loan allowed her to buy ingredients and pans to cook.

Eight Spanish-speaking women make up the Puente de Amistad communal bank called Las Aguilas in the department/state of San Marcos. Their businesses include selling prepared food, selling clothes and shoes, and tailoring.

The women are learning to run their businesses better through monthly, formative training, as part of the Microcrédito Plus program. They learn to budget, plan and invest, which is crucial for their success as entrepreneurs. Other important themes are health, hygiene, nutrition, women's issues, and family matters.

The Microcrédito Plus program, including the loans from the Kiva lenders, are very valuable for these women. Thanks to each one of you!
