A loan helped to buy seeds and organic farming supplies.

Maria Rosario's story

Rosario is originally from the community of Chanchan Tiocajas, but now lives in the canton of Guamote. She has a cheerful, optimistic, and hardworking disposition. Her home is made of straw and reinforced concrete. Rosario lives with her husband. Her children are now independent and have households of their own.

Rosario and her husband work in agriculture. They have been cultivating barley and onions for the past 25 years. She and her husband learned this trade from their parents who were humble farmers in the area. Rosario takes her harvested vegetables directly to the local market without the use of an intermediary, which would increase the price for her buyers. For this reason, she has many customers who always eagerly await her harvest.

Rosario is requesting a loan to buy farming supplies so that she can maintain her crops in hopes of achieving a large harvest, which would generate income to sustain her household. In the future, she would like to acquire more land to cultivate.
