Amanecer Chuacruz Group's story

The beautiful traditional Guatemalan textiles are products that are very appreciated by people around the world.

Ana, who lives in the department of Sololá, has made this kind of textiles for 10 years.

She is 55 years old, is married, and is a mother to six children (from 28 to 36 years old). All of them have a sixth grade education.

Cruz also makes a variety of crafts. To make additional income, she also raises chickens and turkeys.

She sought a loan from Kiva to buy more thread and fabric, and some animals.

Seven woman are members of the Puente de Amistad "Amanecer Chuacruz" communal bank.

They participate in monthly meetings as part of the Microcrédito Plus program from Puente de Amsitad.

During the meetings, the women make loan payments and then participate in educational trainings about business management, health, or family issues.

Some subjects have enabled them to run their businesses of making textiles and raising animals.

She shares that the subjects of saving, good business management, health, and entrepreneurship have been very useful for them in their lives and their businesses.
