Annet's story

Annet is 43 years old and lives in the town of Ggaba in the Kampala Road region of Uganda. She is Married and has 4 children who are all currently in school. For the past 15 years, Annet has been working hard to manage her catering, which sells fried chips and chickens. To help expand her business, Annet has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more cooking oil, hens and Irish potatoes to fry for sale, and will help Annet to generate greater profits and manage to provide enough food for her family. Annet hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business into a big restaurant. Annet is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small Group members like Annet who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
