A loan helped buy animal feed and healthy female breed to increase the animal population on her farm.

Ramatu's story

Ramatu is a 28-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband, inlaws and three children in Sissala East district in Ghana.

With her previous Kiva loan she bought feed for her goats and sheep. She used the profit she earned to reinvest in her business. Ramatu is now requesting another loan to buy animal feed and healthy female breed to increase the animal population on her farm. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her household expenses.

She will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, following up on students who are at risk of dropping out of school, to find out why they are missing school and to link them with the help they need to stay in school.

This loan is special because:

It provides 0% interest loans to entrepreneurs that give back to their community by mentoring.
