A loan helped a member to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Tumaini, Kapina Group's story

This season is not the first one that David is working alongside One Acre Fund. He has been a member for a few years now, having joined the program in 2016. Although he is the only person featured in the above picture (others in the group were unavailable during profile collections), he is actually representing his group of 11 farmers in Malaba Duka Zone, Kenya.

David is often described by his community as a very experienced farmer. He decided to be the one to represent his group because he likes being a leader. Like many of his fellow farmers, David decided he wanted to be part of the One Acre Fund community in order to earn enough to feed his family. He hopes to use the profits from this year’s harvest to send his children to school.

This loan will not only help David, but the whole group, who will receive maize seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of seven acres of land.

In this group: David, Thomas , Sophia , Christine , Herman , Janerose , Ronald , Eli-Ezery , Francisca , Pius , Immaculate

This loan is special because:

It provides smallholder farmers with seeds and supplies at the planting season.
