A loan helped to purchase more t-shirts, trousers, rice, red oil, vita, pepper, and other items to sell.

Mamie's story

Mamie is 40 years old, and she is single. She is the mother of 4 children. All her children are presently attending school while living at home. Mamie never had the opportunity to attend school. She mainly sells t-shirts, trousers, rice, red oil, vita, pepper, and other items. She learned how to sell from her mother and started selling with some financial help from her mother.

She has been managing her sales for 15 years now and has no problem with her sales. She uses a car or kehkeh to transport supplies to her business site and sells Monday through Saturday. Mamie asked for a loan from BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. The loan will be used to purchase more t-shirts, trousers, rice, red oil, vita, pepper, and other items to sell. She likes her business because it makes her an independent woman. Her dream for the future is to increase her business. She is very grateful to BRAC and Kiva for their support. Mamie wishes to say thanks.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
