A loan helped to purchase oil palm beans.

Roselyne's story

Roselyn is 49 years old and married with three children. She is from Elo village in the Bialla district in the oil palm province of West New Britain.

With her family, she is an oil palm grower. She has lived in her area since birth. Oil palm is a big business for the locals of West New Britain Province as it is a major cash crop in this province. It requires a lot of work from the start, including clearing the bush and planting. It takes time to grow and, during this period, clearing of bushes to allow sunlight in and to discourage insects from chewing the shoots of the trees.

She has worked with her family for many years and they now do their own harvest. Oil palm is also seasonal and, at times, she buys from others to pack her bags to meet the factory's requirement. She will use the funds from this loan to buy more wet beans from other growers to pack with her own harvest to meet the factory's requirement.

She has children in school and her new profits from this loan will be saved to meet her children’s educational needs.

This loan is special because:

It promotes financial independence for marginalized women entrepreneurs.
