A loan helped to buy rice, red oil, onions, tomatoes, beans, and other food items to sell.

Felecia's story

Meet 35-year-old Felecia from Liberia. She lives with her partner and four children. Her children are currently attending school. She is a strong businesswoman who sells rice, red oil, onions, tomatoes, fish, beans, and other food items. She started the business with her savings and learned the trade from her mother. She has no problem with her business and uses a car to transport supplies. She sells Monday through Saturday for eight hours.

To grow her business, Felecia applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. She will use the funds to buy rice, red oil, onions, tomatoes, fish, beans, and other food items to sell to her clients. She likes her business because it gives her profits. She wants to become a great businesswoman in the future.

She would like to thank Brac and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
