A loan helped to buy more cosmetics, imported clothes and other items to sell.

Weatta's story

This is 27-year-old Weatta from Liberia. She has two children. They are schooling and live at home. Weatta is a high school graduate.

She runs a business in a shop selling cosmetics, imported clothes and other items. For several years she has been operating her sales. She learned how to sell from her mother and uses a kehkeh to transport supplies to her business site. She sells Monday through Saturday.

To maintain her business, she requested for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner, to buy more cosmetics, imported clothes and other items to sell in order to generate greater profits. Weatta likes her business because it sends her children to school.

Her dream for the future is to expand her business. She is highly grateful for the financial support rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
