A loan helped to re-stock inventory for her food store, contributing to food security in indigenous territory.

Herminia's story

Meet Herminia,

Herminia is a hardworking indigenous entrepreneur who lives in an indigenous territory in East Panama. Herminia has devoted her life to farming and commerce in her Embera indigenous community of El Salto.

Recently, with a tremendous effort, she opened a small retail store to sell food, grains, fruits, vegetables, meat and other products for her community.

As her inventory is running low, Herminia has applied for her first Kiva loan to re-stock her small store. This loan will help her support other farmers, contribute to food security by offering affordable food and also generate income for her family.

Thank you for being part of the growth of microenterprises in financially-excluded territories of Panama.

This loan is special because:

It helps the people of a historically disadvantaged community access financial services.
