Flor De Hortensia 3 Group's story

Yolanda is 20 years old, single. She finished her secondary education and graduated from high school. Her parents supported her in her studies, but she was not able to obtain a degree as her parents could not cover the necessary expenses.

This year Yolanda will take out her first loan which she will invest in buying fabrics and threads for the production and sale of pillows and pillowcases.

Yolanda is the leader of the Flor de Hortensia 3 group. The group is made up of 7 women, 4 from the Maya Qʼanjobʼal ethnic group and 3 from the Ladina ethnic group. The group will invest their loans in agriculture 43%, food 14%, and retail 43%. On average each group member has 2 children, the average age of the group members is 32 years old. 44% are illiterate, 14% did not complete their primary education, 14% completed their primary education, 14% studied up to 9th grade, and 14% graduated from high school.
