A loan helped to purchase more bags of pepper to sell.

Catherine's story

This is 39-year-old Catherine, from Liberia. She is living together with her partner along with three children; they are schooling. Catherine never had the opportunity to attend school.

She sells bags of pepper in a basic marketplace. Since ten years ago, she has been operating her sales, and she is proud of the process. She learned how to sell from her mother. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site and sells Monday through Saturday.

Catherine requested this loan through BRAC Liberia to purchase more bags of pepper to sell to her customers.

She likes her business because it sends her children to school. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
