A loan helped to buy more corn and potatoes to sell.

Korto's story

Korto is 44 years old. She is a single mother with 3 children, with two of them still in school. Korto attended school up to the sixth grade. She runs a food market selling corn and potatoes. She has been operating her sales for twelve years. She learned how to sell by herself. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site and sells Monday through Saturday. To excel in business, Korto applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. This financing will be used to buy more corn and potatoes to sell to her good clients. She likes her business, because it sends her children to school. Her dream for the future is to become a big businesswoman. Korto is highly grateful for the financial support BRAC and Kiva have rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
