A loan helped to purchase a new type of tree seeds.

Bayarjavkhlan's story

Bayarjavkhlan is 31 years old and lives with her father and husband in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. Her family lives in a small house, in the outer ger districts of the city. But she and her husband only live at this home in winter because they plant trees on their land in Selenge province during other seasons.

Bayarjavkhlan and her husband support their family by planting, growing, and selling trees. Every year, they plant from 800,000 to 1,200,000 pines, firs, maples, seabuckthorns, currants and cedars in association with cooperatives on their land. In addition, they replant 20 to 35 hectares of trees in forests per year. They also rehabilitate 20 to 30 hectares of land every year. She is requesting a 700,000 MNT loan to purchase a new type of tree seeds.

Bayarjavkhlan said “I like my job and I think planting trees is a good deed. So in the future, I‘ll plant a lot of trees on the land.” She wants to improve her business with this loan and then she wants to be able to build her own house.
