Rowena's story

Rowena is a resident of Hilongos, Leyte. She is 39 years old, married, and has five children. To earn an income, she runs a sari-sari (variety) store, selling basic commodities. She has been in this business for 20 years.

Now she wishes to improve their toilet facility. She therefore asks for a loan through Kiva’s lending partner CEVI-Philippines who offers financial assistance to promote safe water and good sanitation. With this loan she will buy materials like concrete blocks, sand, a toilet bowl, cement, rebar, and GI sheets. The rest of the loan will be used to pay labor costs.

Indeed, this loan has been a great help for Rowena and her family.
