A loan helped to buy enough crates of soda, sugar for the passion juice, energy drinks.

Resty's story

Resty is 58 years old and lives in the town of Matugga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children, with 1 of them currently in school.

For the past 8 years, Resty has been working hard to manage her beverages business, which sells soft drinks like passion juice, water and sodas.

To help expand her business, Resty has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy enough crates of soda, sugar for the passion juice, energy drinks and drinking water.

It will help Resty to generate greater profits, and her production will increase and attract more revenue. She will manage to buy food for her family.

Resty hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her beverage business more into a wholesale shop.

Resty is a member of BRAC's microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Resty who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
