A loan helped to pay for the upkeep on the land where he grows cacao, and to buy fertilizer to strengthen the productivity.

Estalin's story

Estalin, age 49, considers himself to be a hard-working and responsible man.

He has had a business of cacao beans and shelled cacao beans for 20 years. That is why his greatest challenge is to have good production. Also, his big dream is to have a modernized crop for its greatest production.

In addition to this business his other source of earnings is raising and selling farmyard hens.

He will use the Kiva loan to pay for the upkeep on the land where he grows cacao and to buy fertilizer to strengthen the productivity.

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Ginny Kalish.

This loan is special because:

It schedules repayment rates based on the harvest season to put less pressure on farmers' families.
