A loan helped to buy enough bags of charcoal for resale.

Juliet's story

Juliet is 37 years old and lives in the town of Njeru in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are both currently in school.

For the past 5 years, Juliet has been working hard to manage her retail store, which sells charcoal.

To help expand her business, Juliet has requested a loan of 1,200,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy enough bags of charcoal for resale, and will help Juliet to generate greater profits and her production will increase and attract more revenue. She will manage to buy food for her family.

Juliet hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her charcoal store.

Juliet is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Juliet who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
