Josephine is a customer of the Hekima MFI and chair of the "Ufalme" village group. She is married, 48 years old and has five children, all of whom are in school. Her partner is a civil servant.
She is a seller of local beverages, having started this business nine years ago with start-up money from her husband. She later participated in the Hekima programme to support her business, over which time it has gradually developed.
With this new loan, she will buy mustard, maize, water and charcoal, which will strengthen her initial capital. The challenge of her business is the lack of customers.
She would like her children to continue their studies and to develop her business. Finally, she would like to thank Hekima and its partners for the support given to business owners without access to traditional banking facilities in this global crisis related to Covid-19. Only the leader of the group is pictured, in respect of social distancing measures.
